Fiction Writing Tip #5

Maybe it’s time for some input.

Whenever I find myself pushing around the same paragraph for several hours in a row, I most likely a) don’t know what I’m trying to say, b) don’t know how to say it, or c) don’t have anything else to say. This usually means I need to immediately halt my output and spend a bit more time on my input.

In other words, I need to go out and live some life, listen to some people talk, do some research on a particular subject, and generally get stimulated.

Before I know it, I’m racing home to start writing again.
